About the brand
 
While on the hunt for good-quality chocolate decorations for Christmas, home chef and entrepreneur Debbie Taylor, and her partner Jan, spotted a gap in the local South African market.
 
Lovers of fine chocolate, the couple soon realised that South Africa was lacking in the luxury-chocolate department. And so, Hippolytas was born – its name inspired by the Greek mythological character and Queen of the Amazons.
 
While flavour is definitely at the forefront of Debbie and Jan’s mission, the Hippolytas brand also prides itself on honest, ethical, sustainable practices. Their chocolate is sourced from Belgian brand Callebaut because their product is 100% traceable and sustainable (and, obviously, the most delicious).
